Look, summer’s already full of chaos: sunburns, parking battles, and people pretending to “glamp.” Your phone doesn’t need to add to the list. These quick hacks will keep it running smarter, cooler, and cleaner all season long.
1. Automate Low Power Mode (Before It’s Too Late)
Don’t wait until your phone gasps for air at 10%. Use the Shortcuts app to automatically turn on Low Power Mode when your battery hits a certain percentage. Here’s how:
- Open the Shortcuts app
- Tap “Automation” → “Create Personal Automation”
- Choose “Battery Level” and set your percentage (like 60%)
- Add action → “Set Low Power Mode” → turn it ON
- Done. Your phone is now smarter than half the people in your group chat.
2. Clean Out Photo Clutter
Summer means photos, lots of them. But before your phone gives you that “storage almost full” panic, clean out the junk:
- Open Photos
- Scroll down to “Utilities” → tap “Duplicates”

- Go to Settings → Wallpaper → Add New Wallpaper
- Select “Photo Shuffle” → choose your favorite summer shots
- Now your phone gives you a serotonin boost every time you unlock it.
5. Add a Weather Widget (So You’re Not Surprised by a Thunderstorm)
The forecast matters when you're halfway through a hike, or a pool day. Add a widget right to your Home Screen:
- Long press your Home Screen → tap “+”
- Search “Weather” → choose the widget style you like
- Add it to track your city, your vacay spot, or both.
